FAQ On The Inclusion Scholarship Program
Montreal Improv’s Inclusion Scholarship program awards complimentary classes to persons who are BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Persons Of Colour), LGBTQ+, disabled, neurodivergent and/or 50 years of age or older.
Here are the most common questions we get about this program, how “selections” are made, how many people are included and more.
Q: What is the purpose of the program?
A: The Inclusion Scholarship program exists to increase the representation of marginalized folks in the classroom space, which, crucially, amplifies a diverse range of voices on and off stage.
Q: What happens after I apply?
A: We will review your application and get back to you at least a few days before the class is scheduled to begin.
Q: Do you tell the teachers and the other students when someone has been issued a scholarship?
A: No, that information is not shared with teachers or your fellow students.
Q: How many people do you take for each class?
A: As many as we can. There is no set limit to the number of scholarships awarded per session.
Q: How many times can an individual be awarded the scholarship?
A: There is no cap to the number of scholarships an individual can receive.
Q: How many people have applied for the scholarship to date?
A: Between December 2020 and July 2021 there were 81 applications (from 54 individuals).
Q: How many people have been awarded scholarships to date?
A: Out of the 81 applications, 72 scholarships were offered. 67 of those offers were accepted.
Q: Why might you decline an application?
A: The majority of the applications that get “declined” are for classes that are cancelled or postponed.
