A perfect workshop to FIND the fun of improvised characters.
Andy developed this workshop from training at various theatres with Improv styles to focus on playfulness and noticing the little moments. This workshop will get you out of your head, into your body, and find inspiration with creating memorable and 3 dimensional characters both solo and in scenes.
Find uncharted fun (and therefore the funny) of a scene with the amazing power of discovery!
Workshop will be in English.
Andy Assaf, originally from Montreal, is a Toronto/LA based sketch and improv comedian. You might know him from as the Cravensworth’s Monster on season 6 of What We Do In The Shadows on Fx. He is also a Second City Toronto Mainstage alumni where he wrote and performed 3 Sketch Revues. Other credits include: The Recruit (Netflix), Workin' Moms (CBC) or you might have seen him as that Canadian guy in the Domino's commercial. He has performed across Canada and the US including: NYC - Del Close Marathon, Montreal + Toronto Sketchfest, DC Sketchfest, Vancouver Improv Festival Ensemble and the Rapid Fire Theatre in Edmonton and recently won the JFL industry award for his Solo show FREAKS at Montreal Sketchfest 2025.
This is an in-person workshop located at 3716 rue Notre-Dame Ouest. The space has a stairwell with handrails on both sides and the bathroom is not wheelchair accessible.
Registrants will receive an email with instructions on where to go the day before the workshop. If you have any access needs you'd like to share before the class begins please email classes@montrealimprov.com.
