Love, laughter, and maybe a gasp or two—All Request Heartache is an unforgettable improv experience making a special stop at Montreal Improv

Created and performed by Calgary-based powerhouse Sara Simpson and Nicole Zylstra, All Request Heartache explores love in all its messy, hilarious, heartbreaking forms.

The show is fueled by your song requests: each tune becomes the spark for another stage of an improvised relationship, unfolding right before your eyes. Whether it’s junior high slow dancing to "Truly Madly Deeply" or breakup anthems like "abcdefu" the songs you share set the tone for the drama, the comedy, and everything in between.

The result? A rich, emotional, and wildly entertaining unscripted play where you’ll recognize yourself in the characters—and find yourself laughing (or ugly crying) along the way.

Since its debut in 2017, All Request Heartache has been featured at the Big City Improv Festival in Toronto, Reactor Festival, the Calgary Fringe, the Great Canadian Outdoor Comedy Festival, and for eight seasons at the Kinkonauts in Calgary. Now, Montreal audiences have the chance to experience this unique, emotionally-charged, and deeply human show.

About the performers:

Nicole Zylstra is a doyenne of Calgary’s improv scene, with 16 seasons in the hit soap opera Dirty Laundry and over a decade with the Kinkonauts. She’s also a film and television actor and teaches storytelling and public speaking at Mount Royal University.

Sara Simpson is a dynamic performer, director, and producer. She served six years as Artistic Director of the Kinkonauts and developed the company’s equity and inclusion program. She’s performed at festivals across Canada, and is a graduate of Rosebud School of the Arts.
