Intro to Sketch Comedy

Note: This class does not qualify for a REDO code, as it is not the same class as the “Sketch It!” class from a previous term.

Dip your toes into sketch comedy writing and performance with this introductory six-week class! We’ll look at pitching, writing, rewriting, casting, rehearsing and performance.

Students will work on both solo and collaborative pieces, all ending with a final showcase at Montreal Improv Theatre.

Important Note: Most of the writing and rehearsing will take place outside of class time.

Prerequisite: Longform 2 (or equivalent); if you’re not sure if this includes you and your experience doing improv somewhere else, email education@montrealimprov.com to find out

Date: Saturdays, January 10th-February 14th, 1:30pm-3:30pm (6 weeks)

Graduation Show Date: Saturday, February 28th, 8:00pm-9:00pm

Location: 3706 rue Notre-Dame Ouest. (Grad show: 3716 rue Notre-Dame Ouest.)

Price: 308$ CAD + taxes

Each space has a stairwell with handrails on both sides and each bathroom is not wheelchair accessible. If you have any access needs you'd like to share before the class begins please email education@montrealimprov.com.

Montreal Improv’s Inclusion Scholarship program exists to remove access barriers and increase representation in the classroom, particularly for individuals who are BIPOC and/or LGBTQ+, as well as those with disabilities, while bursaries are offered to lessen financial barriers for lower-income individuals. Note that individuals are entitled to one (1) scholarship OR bursary per term.
