Free Improv Workshop for BIPOC Folks
Want an opportunity to try improv for the first time? A chance to play? Join us on Sunday February 23rd at Montreal Improv, for a Free Improv Workshop for BIPOC folks from 4 to 5:30pm and led by Shanthony Exum!
This workshop is for BIPOC folks (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and open to all levels of improv experience - new and experienced alike!
Sunday February 23rd 4-5:30pm with Shanthony Exum
Shanthony Exum is a multimedia artist who embraces creativity in all forms, from paper mache and illustration to music and improv comedy. She has been an improv performer, since 2018 and currently teaches improv at Montreal Improv Theatre and Theatre Saint Catherine, regularly producing, hosting and performing around Montreal. Her troupe “Imploding” won the 2023 Threepio competition, and her sketch troupe 100% Human People was named "Best Local Troupe" in the 2024 edition of Montreal Sketch Fest. She has also performed at Ladyfest, OFF JFL, and the Big Pond Improv Festival.
Outside of improv, Shanthony is known as Miss Eaves, a feminist rapper who has toured across Europe and North America. Her music—empowering and fun—has been featured on HBO’s "Insecure" and Netflix’s "Big Mouth."
Note: This is an in-person workshop located at 3706 or 3716 rue Notre-Dame Ouest. Each space has a stairwell with handrails on both sides and each bathroom is not wheelchair accessible. Registrants will receive an email with instructions on where to go the day before class begins.
