Have you formed an improv dream team that you really, really enjoy working with? Did you find a coach who understands your unique style and you want to continue working with them? Would you like a dedicated rehearsal space AND a monthly spot on stage?

Montreal Improv is proud to announce our monthly Incubator Program!

What is the Incubator program?

The Incubator program has been created for established teams who would like to continue working together with their chosen coach! The program offers participating teams a designated rehearsal space at one of Montreal Improv’s locations as well as a guaranteed spot in a monthly show.

The Incubator Program runs every month and the cost per student, per month is $144 CAD plus applicable taxes.

The price covers:

Coaching fees

Room rentals for rehearsals (4 per month)

Production costs of organizing, promoting and running a show

Requirements:

- Minimum team size: 6 people

- Have completed Longform 1

HOUSE TEAM PROGRAM

Montreal Improv is proud to kick off our House Team program this fall!

Two Teams. Two formats. Two Coaches

Beginning in November 2023, the House Team program, consisting of 2 teams, will run for six months until April 2024. Participants will attend weekly rehearsals and work with a dedicated coach on 2 specific formats. There will be a showcase performance on the second Friday of every month.

Formats being offered are HAROLD (coached by Dale Bernier) and SHORT FORM (coached by Mariana Vial).

Auditions: Once applications have been received, you will receive an email confirming your audition time on October 28, 2023.

HAROLD TEAM | Coach: Dale Bernier

We will get rid of those pesky long openings and do a Headless Harold, which will lead to more organic first beats.

You will learn and perfect the classic improv structure The Harold! We will go over: first, second beats, group scenes and third beat connections/ callbacks. Emphasis will be put on game play, clarity of offers and generating fun and hilarious shows.

About the Instructor: Dale is an improviser, teacher, and coach. He has performed all over Canada and the U.S. His Monoscene trio won the Threepio competition in the past at Montreal Improv. He produces "Troubadour", a sellout show at MI as well as "No Laughing Matter". He loves the Harold format and is looking forward to coaching a Harold House Team.

Team size: 10, with 7 performing in each show with a rotating cast.

Rehearsal Schedule (6 month commitment): Mondays 6.30PM-8.30PM

Rehearsal Location: 3706 Rue Notre-Dame O (St. Henri, Studio space)

Prerequisites: Minimum Longform 2. Having taken Game Of The Scene class is an advantage. Some exceptions may be made depending on the audition and coach's discretion.

SHORT FORM TEAM | Coach: Mariana Vial

Play old favourites and learn exciting and challenging new games. Sharpen your improv skills including scenework, good listening, finding the fun, being physical and playing to the top of your intelligence. You will also perfect your hosting and show-running skills.

About the Instructor: Mariana has been performing and teaching improv for over 20 years. She was a member of the short-form troupe Kitsch N'Sync in Boston, and a number of local longform troupes, most recently musical improv The Jazz Ands. She regularly led workshops and ran short-form shows at TSC Sunday Night Improv.

Team size: 8-10

Rehearsal Schedule (6 month commitment): Tuesdays 6PM-8PM

Rehearsal Location: 3706 Rue Notre-Dame O (St. Henri, Studio space)

Prerequisites: Have completed Longform 1 (or are currently enrolled and will have completed by Nov 30, 2023). Have a good team attitude and love to perform!
